POULTRY - Dr.FERM "in practice"



Dr.FERM has 25+ years experience in fermentation concepts for animals. Our first projects were done in period 2008-2013. Through trial and error, and many tests, a well-funcioning fermentation concept was developed. The basic characteristics are:
1) batch-fermentation,
2) temperature 36-38C, and
3) use of activated starterculture.
For the past five years, Dr. FERM has been intensively involved in R&D projects studying the application of liquid fermented raw materials in broiler diets. Inclusion of 5 to 10% liquid fermented feedstuffs in broiler diets resulted in improved feed conversion, higher daily gain, higher final weight, and less mortalitiy. This was observed both in conventional broilers (40 days growing period) as well as in slow-growing birds (56 days growing period).
At the end of 2025, a large-scale trial will start to test a technology for automatically adding 5% liquid ferment to dry broiler feed. The trial will involve a barn housing 25,000 broilers, with slow-growing birds (The Netherlands).
