DR.FERM
Innovative Fermentation

Wo are we?

Ronald Scholten, PhD, & Anikó Karsai
In 2010, Ronald Scholten founded Dr.FERM Kft. His life partner, Anikó Karsai, has been a co-owner since 2019 and is responsible for the smooth operation of administrative and logistic processes.
Since 2010, we have been working with great dedication and conviction to be the leading partner for expertise in microbial fermentation concepts for farm animals (pigs, poultry, calves, dairy cattle, aquaculture, shrimp, insects). Ronald has over 25 years of experience in microbial fermentation for animals and is passionate about practical innovations based on scientific findings. This connection between science and practice has shaped both his education and his professional career. He completed his studies at the Higher Agricultural School (4 years) and Wageningen University of Agriculture (3 years; graduated with honors). In 1996, he began his professional career at the Research Institute for Pig Husbandry. Here, he cultivated close relationships with pig farmers and the feed industry and conducted practical experiments at three experimental pig farms in the Netherlands. Concurrently, from 1997 to 2001, he pursued his doctorate at Wageningen University of Agriculture, writing his dissertation on the "Fermentation of Liquid Feed for Pigs." Ronald also worked for over eight years as co-owner and managing director of various pig farms in Hungary. In 2010, he finally returned to his passion for fermentation. Several major feed manufacturers, such as Nutreco, Hendrix Voeders, and ForFarmers, commissioned Dr. FERM as a consultant to develop reliable and effective fermentation concepts for use on farms and in feed mills.
